About Eric Malikyte

I had a troubled childhood. That’s probably an understatement. My author bio is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but it’s relatively benign compared to the things I experienced. I’m no stranger to tragedy, my family life is full of depressing stories. Maybe that’s why I write horror? I think it’s important to look at the dark things, even if they make us uncomfortable. If we spent a little more time stepping out of our comfort zones, maybe the world would be a better place.

Echoes of Olympus Mons

Echoes of Olympus Mons is a cosmic horror novel set on Mars. It's like if The Martian and At the Mountains of Madness had a baby. It follows Hal Leon and Akio Sato as they unravel a mystery surrounding their invention, a camera that images dark matter. But what they find in the images it takes may end up putting the lives of every human on Mars in jeopardy. I want to say it’s not just a cosmic horror story—I mean, it is, but—it’s about these extremely flawed people as they attempt to piece together a thing which probably doesn’t have a sane solution to, how they grow from that experience, and how some of them don’t.

Eric’s Writing Process

I get up every morning, I set a timer, I have my coffee, and I write. Then I edit. Then I edit again. And again. There’s probably more to it than that. There’s technique, there’s word choice, all that wonderful stuff. Sure, there’s my editor and beta readers as well, but at the end of the day, it all comes back to just planting my butt in that chair and putting the words down.
